Albion Tea
Commissioned by Windett Design, London, to create an elegant floral pattern and logo symbol for the launch of the new female-owned luxury brand Albion Tea.
The design features hand-illustrated tea leaves forming an intricate, flowing pattern that captures a thoughtful and timeless feel across the identity and packaging. Hidden within the foliage is a single swallow, a symbol of homecoming and everyday moments of calm, subtly linking to the standalone logo featured on the lid of the tea caddy.
The visual direction blends heritage with a contemporary sensibility. Drawing on “Albion,” the ancient name for Britain, the identity celebrates classic tea traditions while inviting a new generation of tea drinkers. A balance of softness and sophistication, the result reflects the brand’s ethos and modern approach to ritual and rest.
Pattern and Logo
The bespoke floral illustration was inspired by the intricate patterns of 19th-century designer William Morris, reinterpreted with a contemporary touch. Created in vector with delicate gold detailing, the repeat pattern was designed to feel both timeless and elegant, complementing the brand’s refined aesthetic.
At the heart of the design is a hand-drawn swallow, symbolising everyday moments of calm and the feeling of coming home. This motif was embossed in gold onto the tea caddy tins, adding a subtle sense of ritual and craftsmanship to the packaging.
The design began with hand-drawn sketches to explore composition and the flow of the repeating floral elements. Once the layout was refined, the illustration was redrawn in vector to create a versatile repeat suitable for both print and packaging. Gold detailing was then mapped out to highlight key elements - adding depth, texture, and a subtle sense of luxury to the final design.
